Bio

Marianne grew up in Brockville, Ontario, along the St. Lawrence River. She now lives in Kitchener along the Grand River.  Her other "home" river is the Ottawa, flowing past the small town of Deep River.

Above and Below the Waterline (BookLand Press, 2011) is Marianne's inaugural book of poetry, while her novels include Tending MemoryTwice in a Blue Moon, and Dead Girl Diaries (BookLand Press, 2007 & 2009) and The Shunning (Moonstone Press, 1994).   

Marianne's fiction and non-fiction have appeared in anthologies such as The Best Women's Travel Writing and Canadian Tales of the Fantastic, as well as within many magazines, including among others Cahoots Magazine, Vox Feminarum,  and Canadian Author. She is a recipient of the Canadian Aid Literary Award, the Kitchener-Waterloo Arts Award for Writing, and the Okanagan Fiction Award. 

Literacy is a cause about which Marianne is passionate. She is the author of Literacy is a Family Affair and  Let's Play Literacy, as well as other books and research projects that deal with the importance of reading. Marianne is a member of The Writers' Union of Canada.
